3/5/10 District Update

Two great matchups of state ranked teams on the girls side last night.  And the headliner lived up to the hype in Sarcoxie.  Purdy and Miller went to overtime for the second time this season with Purdy’s Addy Roller hitting a late three to get it there.  But in the extra period, Miller hit their free throws down the stretch to take their second consecutive district title game from the Lady Eagles 62-60.  Hannah Wilkerson scored 43 to lead Miller into the sectional rematch with reigning state champion Sparta.  And in Aurora, state ranked Verona and Walnut Grove matched up for the title with the Lady Wildcats grabbing the prize 58-47.

On the boys side, at matchup of state ranked class 1 teams went to Dadeville as they won their district with a 81-50 defeat of Fair Play.  They’ll advance to face Chadwick in a rematch of last years sectional game, as the Cardinals won the Aurora district 71-63 over Exeter.
