2009 Bass Pro TofC – day 2

Less than 3 hours until tip off of day 2 of the 25th Bass Pro Shops Tournament of Champions.  Before we get to the schedule, let’s review day 1.

  • The stars are as good as advertised. Joe Jackson, Trae Golden, & John Wall all showed why they are top prospects.  Jackson went for 27, Golden 24, and Wall 28 points, 11 assists, and 4 jaw dropping slams.  The though of Jackson and Wall facing each other tonight should have you salivating.
  • The team with the most D1 signees is pretty darn good too. Olympia doesn’t have the 1 superstar like the teams mentioned above, but they are plenty deep and very talented.  If Dexter Fields or Sherwood Brown weren’t scoring, Martell Buie was dropping dimes or someone else was grabbing a rebound of forcing a turnover.  They should be a handful for McEachren tonight.
  • Don’t forget the second bananas. In addition to Fields & Brown grabbing some limelight, C.J. Leslie of Word of God was phenomenal.  Glendale’s Casey Goss had a second half that no one will soon forget while teammate Taylor Tripplett had his best game of the season.  And White Station’s Ferrakohn Hall had 14 points and 7 boards to perfectly compliment Joe Jackson.
  • Two years from now, look out. That would be St. Raymond’s.  We can already start looking forward to their return.  Though senior Tyreak Johnson is the leader, sophomores Joey De La Rosa, Sidiki Johnson, Jose Rodriguez, and freshman Nkereuwem Okoro should make the Ravens well worth watching in 2011.
  • We still love the underdog. Despite all the great basketball last night, the best ovation was for the Falcons in appreciation of their near comeback.
  • Even though he’s retired, it’s more special with Bob Olivia around. Amen.

Day 2 schedule

  • 5:00 – St. Raymond vs Glendale
  • 6:30 – Ozark vs Central
